Healing the Gut: Part 2

In last week’s article, we talked about how having a healthy gut is essential for the wellness of our whole being. We believe before anything else is addressed, it is essential to have a healthy digestive system. That is why we created our Gut Healing Protocol. This is a carefully constructed six-month program that focuses on detoxification, restoration, and rejuvenation of the gut.

Due to lack of proper nutrition, poor food choices, sedentary lifestyle, prolong stress, exposure to environmental toxins and so on, there has been significant rise in autoimmune conditions, food allergies, sleep disorders, lack of energy, depression, and many other ailments. Most of them do stem from a poor digestive health, and in today’s world, it is relevant that we reboot the digestive system once in a while and restore it with healthy microbes (gut flora). Our Gut Healing Protocol begins with two months of detoxification through food and herbs, based on your individual body type. It is focused on strengthening the digestive fire and removal of accumulated Ama (toxins) from the body. We then focus on restoration of healthy microbes (gut flora) for the next two months. And finally followed by rejuvenation for the last two. The goal of our Gut Healing Protocol is to restore the natural harmony in the gut, so that we can have more energy, radiance, and vibrancy in life.

What does it include?

– Monthly Ayurvedic consultation for an hour

– Monthly Ayurvedic massage (Abhayanga) for an hour

– Monthly Ayurvedic workshop (includes lunch) for three hours

Ayurvedic consultations:

The monthly ayurvedic consultation will be focused on internal detoxification through diet, lifestyle, and herbs, and will focus on education and empowerment of your own unique constitution. Together, we learn where any discomfort in the body is coming from by talking about your history and assessing your pulses, tongue and your dosha (body type). Then, we create a plan to get back on track to health with the right foods, herbs, lifestyle shifts, and yoga.

Ayurvedic massage (Abhayanga):

The consultations are followed by an Ayurvedic (Abhayanga) massage, which work to clear blockages and detoxify the body through the largest organ: the skin. Abhayanga is relaxing warm oil massage given to increase circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system, improve joint health, calm the nervous system and improve skin tone.

Ayurvedic massage is unique as it focuses on moving the lymphs through the application of herbal infused warm oil in order to clear toxins from the system.

Monthly Workshops:

In addition to monthly consultations and massage, our Gut Healing Protocol also includes a monthly workshop. This serves as our educational platform for the “Science of Life”. In our workshops, we will provide tips on how to find balance and harmony within the body while cooking a communal meal in New Leaf’s beautiful modern kitchen. Each month in centered around a different topic, and focuses on diving deeper into Ayurveda’s extensive knowledge.
